Pots and Plots

Ever since "Little Garden Grow", I've been itching to add more to my garden, but I didn't want to spend quite as much money this time. I have lofty dreams for the yard, but the gardens of magazines are not grown overnight. Rosalyn put it the best way when she said it's like shopping for a wardrobe. You add a little at a time, watching for sales, and waiting to find the perfect plant or element to fill in the gaps. Then, the next thing you know you have a fully grown garden/ wardrobe.

On this particular shopping spree, I decided to get crafty. Think of it as deconstructed or altered clothing. I love the color of Terra Cotta pots, though I think they are a little too plain on their own. Dressing them up was really easy and fun. With a paper towel, I applied a thin glaze of paint to each. Then, I adhered some stickers that I chose for this project. A coating of clear varnish later, and they were all decked out for the yard.

Next, I painted a glaze over the wooden stars that I found at the craft store, brushed glue on, and sprinkled them with clear glitter. They look like little wands to me. Now, all I need are some fairies for the yard. Each pot got a Dahlia bulb, each a different color. I ran out of potting soil, and later found out that the pots are too small for Dahlias. Oops! Here's to hoping that the pots can contain them.

This morning, while I pondered what success means to me, I made a list of wishes for the future. There are lots of dandelions in the yard, so I'll pick a few every day, and send my wishes adrift. What's your wish?
