Here it is! My first attempt at landscaping. You may have noticed that I'm a low maintenance kind of gal when it comes to yard work. That's why I chose to fill the beds first with a plastic weed barrier and then with rocks. Most of the plants require low watering conditions, and little to no maintenance. I wanted to keep the weeding and tending to the "garden" to a minimum. It makes life so much easier. Don't you agree?
The one thing that was not kept at a minimum, however, was the cost of this project. In all, I bought 40 bags of rocks to fill these two beds! At four bucks and something a pop, it did not come cheap, nor did the ten pots and sixteen plants. Whew! I had no idea how much it cost to have a nice looking yard.
The cost of this project was nothing compared to the fun that I had dreaming this up, planning, and implementing. Once I had finished the first rock bed, a complete stranger drove into our driveway to tell me how much she liked it! Isn't that charming and sweet? I was so completely excited over this lady's compliment that I grinned like the Cheshire Cat for half the evening.
The next step for the "garden" is to stake little solar lights in the beds to illuminate them at night. That way, our gnome Pete won't have to roam alone in the dark. I'm also planning on finding some sort of barrier to stake around the borders to keep those expensive rocks in place. After that, it's all up to nature. Hopefully, we'll see some pretty amazing results.

It's looks very good. Is that a Savannah Sage? We have a few and truly they are the easiest to grow!
I have a few pictures of one of Jr's projects on my blog you should have a look.
BTW-You're so right about the cost of having natural beauty around the yard!
