Special Gifts

Since I have not yet posted anything of my craftiness, I wanted to first introduce you to my sister-in-law's crafty side. I always knew she was the type to make things, but I didn't know she enjoyed it so much until this Christmas when I was surprised by her thoughtful hand made gifts, and of course a couple things from Williams-Sonoma (pictured below).

In the left corner of the photo above is a wine bottle with Christmas lights stuffed inside. The picture just doesn't do it justice. The glowing bottle makes the kitchen so warm and inviting at night. I love the idea, so I'm just going to have to steal it. Though, I'm putting my own spin on it. I'm going to peel the labels off the bottle I use and am going to make my own label with fabrics, paper, buttons, paint, and so on. Don't get too excited to see the culmination of this because it is one of the many projects I want to tackle soon. I really do need to stop watching the morning shows on the DIY Network!

See the coasters in the picture above? She made those too, using slate tile and photos of the whole family. I've only shown the ones of Trey and myself, Ashleigh (the crafty one) and Blake (her accomplished husband). They are the couple on the right. The photos she used of Trey and I were taken while the whole family was on vacation in Galveston. I have wonderful memories of that time, so it makes the gracious gift even more special. Thanks Ashleigh!
