Modern Alchemy

Recently, I have discovered a new art medium that opens a whole new range of possibilities to me! It is called Precious Metal Clay. Okay, obviously it's clay, but it is embedded with 99.9% fine silver, or gold. You just mold it into whatever you like, set stones, or glass if you wish, and fire it with a torch or kiln. The heat melts away the non metal properties of the clay, and voila! You've got a finished piece of solid gold or silver fine art jewelry. Of course, you can make more than just jewelry. You can make boxes, book marks, wine bottle stoppers, paper weights, key chains... You are only limited by your own creativity.

Above is a an example of what you can do with PMC, done by jewelry artist Shahasp Valentine. Her work is very regal, ancient, and romantic feeling. She is inspired by ancient architecture, fine jewels of the past, and her travels to Europe.

I can't wait to get my hands on this PMC stuff, but first I have to get around to ordering it. Oh, and I do believe an inspirational mini vacation should be next!
